Conventional Single Handle Rod
Below are videos demonstrating differing exercises or casts using a single handed rod.

Curve Cast, Single Hand Rod
This video demonstrates a Single Hand curve cast, minimizing the need to perform an aerial or on water mend. Some cast comes out with an L layout on the water, akin to Corkscrew or V curve cast.
Besides creating a mend close to the fly, this cast also places an 'L' or 'U' shape that acts as an anchor while doing on water mend. This then helps from pulling the fly away from the target run when performing any mends. Just notice the slurp that points to this anchor when I pick up the fly line for the next cast (slurp will not be present after fly line straightens out after a drift). |
This demonstration is an exercise in tightening up the back cast loop that leads to a smoother and tighter shape front cast loop. This is using an intermediate length head to ensure the rod tip tracks on a straight path when the line weight is much heavier than a WF5 (competition line here is 290 grains when fully extended outside the tip guide, an equivalent to a 11 weight category).
